M&IT Agency Challenge 2018 was a record-breaker

The 6th M&IT Agency Challenge was a record-breaker with more suppliers than ever and a 20 per cent uplift in agency participants to 64, reflecting the event’s unique formula and growing popularity.

This was the second Agency Challenge staged at the Celtic Manor Resort, voted best UK hotel at the M&IT Industry Awards again this year, and the resort’s wide range of indoor and outside space was used for the event. Participants competed in teams for cash prizes with The Blue Team triumphant, picking up a joint prize of more than £1000 in John Lewis vouchers. Team members scored points for demonstrating their knowledge of suppliers and competing in physical team games.

Organiser Maria Voller, of CAT Media’s event team, said: “It’s all about audience engagement – our way to use gamification and technology to get sales messages remembered in a high energy mix of work and fun, education and competition.”

Participants learned how to produce videos, make chocolate and shoot clay pigeons as well as attending lively supplier presentations.

Waiwan Lee of event agency Pepler Lee said: “I found it to be very educational and a fantastic way to make new connections. Great presentations – amazing how much info I retained knowing there was a prize to be won! I never knew I was so competitive.”

Clare O’Byrne, Senior Production Manager at MCI UK, said: “We had a brilliant experience and really enjoyed the business/fun combination.”

Steph Bryant of The Appointment Group said: “I enjoyed the event from start to finish.  It was a great balance of business and pure fun.”

Julia Hudson of Hudson Webb said: “As it was our first M&IT Agency Challenge we weren’t sure what to expect, but everyone was very welcoming and the organisation was superb.  The timing of the 1-2-1’s was perfect and I was able to pass out a live inquiry face to face – it couldn’t have been more perfect!”

The two day programme ensures suppliers have the maximum face time with the agency professionals in their teams. All the knowledge tests and physical challenges result in points in the race for one agency team to win the cash prize.
